TERRY OLDFIELD

Terry Oldfield is an internationally acclaimed composer and musician. Terry is English born but now resides in Australia. He began playing the flute on the Island of Hydra in Greece in 1970. The call of the ocean and the tinkering sounds of goat bells on his simple island home inspired him greatly. At this time he also began to practice meditation and contemplation on the mysteries of the realms of sound. Terry spent seven years in this way. During this time Terry travelled extensively throughout India. The mystical magic of India with its colours and music has always been a strong influence on his career and has flavoured his music.

From here he moved into composing music for television in England, America and Europe. He also began a career as a recording artist with 30 CD’s released and three million sales world wide.

Terry is a deeply spiritually inspired flautist and has focused in the past on his silver flutes including the concert and Alto. Recently he has become inspired to play the Bansuri Flute. The Bansuri is the traditional Indian flute made of simple bamboo. Various sizes of these flutes give different tones and notes. His latest albums Yoga Harmony and Reiki Harmony (due for release in July/August 06) are composed around the Bansuri.

Recently in Australia Terry has begun working live with people, leading sound journey meditations and giving flute concerts. He has teamed up with Soraya Devashakti Saraswati who is a spiritual teacher and healer. Together they have been running Resonance Soundshops in Australia and are doing a tour of Europe in September.

In his personal life Terry practices yoga & meditation, loves walking in the forest,and swimming in the ocean. Terry is a Reiki master and works with energetic healing. Terry and Soraya run regular Kirtan healing music and chant evenings in their home on the Sunshine Coast Australia.

SORAYA DEVASHAKTI SARASWATI

Soraya Devashakti Saraswati is a Spiritual Teacher who has developed through her extensive study of the ancient yogic traditions and her own personal journey a unique style of teaching. Although she follows no formal religion Soraya is dedicated to the spiritual path and embraces all personal relationships with the Divine.

At 21 Soraya received initiation from a great yogic master, Swami Satyananda Saraswati. She spent 8 years living in the Satyananda Ashrams in Australia studying and teaching Yoga and Meditation and practicing Karma Yoga (the yoga of selfless service or right action). Soraya went on to study Naturopathy, Reiki and Spiritual Healing. She has spent years studying the human energy system and running courses on meditations through the chakras to assist people to manage their energy and focus their intent. Through dedication to her own spiritual practice and helping others through her teaching Soraya has developed a deep understanding of the human psyche. This wisdom is reflected in her classes, courses and workshops.

Soraya has a great love of music and song and the chanting of ancient mantras as a means of deep spiritual connection with the Divine. Together with Terry Oldfield and his magical flutes she runs sound journey meditations and Nada Yoga Soundshops. Thus Soraya now calls her style of yoga, resonance yoga, as sound and mantra is incorporated with pranayama and asanas (breathing techniques and postures) into each class. Soraya Devashakti maintains close links with Satyananda Ashram in Australia and is an accredited Satyananda teacher. She also visits Shivananda Ashram in India to be in the presence of her own yoga master Swami Satyananda Saraswati and his precepter Swami Niranjananda Saraswati. Soraya has dedicated her life to the spiritual journey and to assisting others along the way.
